JAMAICA JOINS THE WORLD in GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER
(May-08-2007)

With less than 20 days to go before The Global Day Of Prayer (27 May 2007), 174 Countries have confirmed their participation in this year’s event.  These countries will be storming the heavens for their communities, their country and the world.  In some countries tens of thousands of Christian believers will be gathering in large stadiums; and in others up to 3000 events have been registered.

The Global Day Of Prayer (GDOP) started in July 2000 when God captured the heart of a South African Christian businessman, Graham Power, with a vision based on 2 Chronicles 7:14. The vision had three clear instructions:

  1. To call Christians from all denominations in Cape Town for a Day of Repentance and Prayer at Newlands Rugby Stadium.
  2. To challenge Christians across the rest of South Africa to unite in a Day of Repentance and Prayer.
  3. To challenge Christians in Southern Africa to unite in a Day of Repentance and Prayer

Jamaica Youth for Christ, the event’s Secretariat, working with the Umbrella Group of Churches, has confirmed 21 Locations Island-Wide for this year’s GDOP Gatherings on May 27
