'A man who walk with kings, but did not forget the common man.' This was how Cleveland Feagan o.c. 'Babsie' was described from one of the various tributes that were paid to him at a thanksgiving service for his life, at the St Peter's Anglican church at Pedro Plains, St Elizabeth on Saturday April 28, 2007.
He migrated to England where he resides for over 40 years. On his many vacations to the island he always carried gifts, which he goes around, and deliver to family and friends.
He was described by the many tributes paid to him, as a kind, humble and jovial person who was always motivating people. Many of his church brethren took the long journey from England to pay their last respect to a successful businessman and mentor.
On his return from England, he lived permanently with his wife Dora at Kyle Courts in Spaulding Clarendon where he was president of the neighbour hood watch there.
Born in James Hill Clarendon and was the second of three children for his parents. he suffered a stroke a few years ago and this led to the deterioration of his health, until he passed away in his wife's arms on April 13. He was buried in his wife's family plot at Round Hill District St Elizabeth beside her parents.
The Rev Carton Tulloch, who officiated at the service, told the congregation that the grave is a place of sorrow. But at the grave of Jesus the angels cried in essence, he's alive, he's risen, be not afraid. So if we look toward the resurrection of Jesus we have a blessed story.
In his rising his love was vindicated as it was dine orderly in a kingly splendour. The angels welcome the people to draw near to the grave to see for themselves that he is risen and that there is hope for us that we can be like Jesus.
