Television Jamaica will create history in Toronto on November 30, 2006 when it broadcasts live its current affairs programme Your Issues Live from the Jamaican Canadian Community Centre at 995 Arrow Road.
The town hall style meeting is the second in the series of TVJ’s engagement with the Jamaican Diaspora in North America, following on the first meeting in South Florida. The show in Toronto will be the first time Television Jamaica will be broadcasting a current affairs programme live outside of Jamaica .
Hosted by veteran journalist Michael Sharpe the programme, which invites public participation, will address how Jamaicans in Toronto view their homeland and what they see as the solutions to its many challenges.
Among the invited guests will be state minister for foreign affairs, Senator Delano Franklyn, Ambassador Courtney 'Cuddy' Walsh, other members of the planning team for world cup cricket 2007 as well as leaders in the Toronto community.
The public is being asked to be seated before 7 p.m.
