Mary Seacole Commemorative Stamps

Professor Barry Chevannes, C.D., Chairman of Council, Institute of Jamaica, proudly displays Mary Seacole Commemorative Stamps, received on the behalf of the Institute of Jamaica, from Mrs. Carolle Hainsley, Deputy Postmaster General.
The stamps were released by the Postmaster General on Monday, November 21, 2005, in honour of Mary Seacole, in this the 200th anniversary of her birth.
A plaque marking the location of her former home, Blundell Hall, now the site of the National Library of Jamaica, was also unveiled by the Minister of Health, The Honourable John Junor M.P., and President of the Nurses Association of Jamaica, Mrs. Edith Allwood-Anderson.
