Instead of just keeping the spotlight on the school, we decided to share the spotlight with other students. This week we decided to look at the school's top performer in the C.X.C. examinations, Jemelia Wyles. The interview was quiet interesting and was conducted by a fellow student, Mr. Andre Welsh. Please read and enjoy and bask in the glory of one of Camperdown's fine productions.

This is an interview on Jemelia Wyles, she is the top performer for Camperdown High for this years C.X.C. examinations. She is currently in Grade 12 and adapting quiet well to her new challenges as a sixth form student.

The interview was conducted by fellow classmate Andre Welsh.

Andre: Good afternoon Jemelia, glad that you could have this interview with me.

Jemelia: Not a problem, the pleasure is mine.

Andre: What are the names of your parents?

Jemelia: Joan Walker and Phillip Wyles.

Andre: They must be very proud of you?

Jemelia: Well yes they are.

Andre: What was there reaction when you broke the news to them?

Jemelia: Both my parents were just proud of me, it’s kind of hard to describe the exact reactions, but the moment was one of great satisfaction, joy, laughter and one of the moments that you are glad God gave you the chance to enjoy.

Andre: How many subjects were you successful in?

Jemelia: I was successful in eight subjects. I got five (5) distinctions and three (3) credits.

Andre: How did you prepare for the examinations?

Jemelia: It was not easy; it took a lot of self discipline, focus and constant revision and reading. In other words, I had to keep my eyes on the prize.

Andre: That’s very good. However, apart from your parents and the confidence you had in your self, was there anybody else that you relied on for strength?

Jemelia: Yes there was. His name is Duran Wright and he was a role model for me.

Andre: Well this is very uplifting; it is very good to see that a young man has conducted him self in such away so as to be considered a role model; and it seemed to pay off seeing that you were successful in your examination.

Jemelia: Yes it paid of quiet well.

Andre: What were your favorite subjects?

Jemelia: My favorite subjects were biology, physics and chemistry.

Andre: Were you apart of any clubs and societies while studying for your examinations?

Jemelia: Yes. I was apart of the Red Cross, Science Club, Key Club and I enjoyed reading.

Andre: Any favorite books?

Jemelia:  “A Raisin In The Sun”

Andre: A well rounded person indeed. What are the subjects you are currently doing at sixth form?

Jemelia: Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Caribbean Studies.

Andre: Where are you heading after all of this?

Jemelia: I hope to pass all my C.A.P.E. subjects and enter the University of the West Indies to pursue a career in medicine.

Andre: That’s good; at least when I am sick I will have you to provide the best of care. But as we rap up are there any thought you want to leave with us.

Jemelia: Well it is actually a wish that I have, and it is that  one day we will all work together to see a decline in the crime rate we now have., That’s all.

Andre: And I could not have said it better. Thank you Jemelia for your time and I do wish you all the best in your studies and endeavours.
