The US Embassy and the Jamaica Library Service invite you to US Classic Film Festival to be held from September 15 to October 13, 2009 starting at 6 p.m. at the Kingston & St Andrew Parish Library, 2 Tom Redcam Drive, Kingston 5.
Program Information:
September 15: “To Kill a Mockingbird” (1962): Director Robert Mulligan. Starring Gregory Peck, Mary Badham, Robert Duvall. Three Oscars; eight nominations; three Golden Globes; American Film Institute’s #1 courtroom drama film. Based on the novel by Harper Lee.
September 22: “Lilies of the Field” (1963): Director Ralph Nelson. Starring Sidney Poitier, Lilia Skala. One Oscar (Sidney Poitier, Best Actor); four nominations. Based on the novel by William Edmund Barrett. September 29: “The Wizard of Oz” (1939): Director Victor Fleming. Starring Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger. Ten Oscars; ten nominations; American Film Institute’s #1 fantasy film. Based on the novel by L. Frank Baum. October 6: “Gone with the Wind” (1939): Director Victor Fleming. Starring Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Leslie Howard. Ten Oscars; thirteen nominations; American Film Institute’s #4 epic film. Based on the novel by Margaret Mitchell. October 13: “A Patch of Blue” (1965): Director Guy Green. Starring Sidney Poitier, Elizabeth Hartman, Shelley Winters. One Oscar; four nominations; Writers Guild of America award. Based on the novel “Be Ready with Bells and Drums” by Elizabeth Kata.
