Ina Louise Tracey laid to rest
(Dec-22-2008)

The thanksgiving service for the life of Ina Louise Tracey was held at the St. Ann's Bay Baptist Church, December 13, 2008 and began at 10:00a.m.

Ina Louise Tracey nee Galloway was born in Godsto, Steer Town in the parish of St. Ann on January 17, 1917. She was the last child of Alexander and Annie Darby Galloway. After attending the St. Ann's Bay Elementary School, she worked as a seamstress and later at the Windsor Hotel. For decades, she continued to maintain a warm, welcoming home that supported her husband, children, grandchildren and hundreds of children and young people who stopped by for their afternoon snacks, especially her famous suck-suck. Ina was married to the late Percival Tracey who predeceased her. The union had produced seven children: Raphael, Olive, Fay, Dorothy, Keith, Millicent and Beverly. The late Sister Tracey was a dedicated, stalwart, humble member of the St. Ann's Bay Baptist Church. She served on several committees in various capacities, and was an ordained deacon.

She devoted herself to Christian service. A caring, saintly woman, Deacon Tracey opened her heart and home to all who crossed her path. She especially loved young people and always had an encouraging word for them. As a prayer warrior, she was always praying for the many individuals she came into contact with. Although Deacon Tracey was confined to her bed for many years, she remained a beacon of kindness, compassion and comfort to her family, friends and the community.

She was always visited by the minister and members of the church and partake of the holy communion.

Deacon Tracey was called to higher service November 29, 2008. Her soul is resting in peace. She will forever live in the hearts of her surviving children; Fay Galloway-Campbell, Dorothy Rose, Keith Tracey and Beverly Tracey-Smith; her son-in-law Alwin Campbell; grandchildren, John Garfield, Curtis, Coretta, Sardia Sheldon, Jackie and Jevone; 19 great grand children; one great great grandson; niece Gloria; nephews Sonny, Lloyd, Richard, cousins and a host of friends and church brethren.

Ina Galloway-Tracey, lovingly known as 'Mama Ina' and 'Granny', Deacon Tracey has loved her God and served her community faithfully and is now gone to enjoy her eternal reward. The officiating ministers were Rev. Karen Kirlew and Deacon Pervis Nelson. Organist - Deacon Joyce Brown.
