Two students remained hospitalised following Wednesday's incident in which nauseous chemicals was released from a packaged item - labelled "Fart Bomb" at the Bradford Prep. School in Buff Bay, Portland.
Yesterday four of six students who were rushed to the Annotto Bay Hospital in a critical but stable condition, were released.
Chief Medical Officer in charge of the Ministry of Health in the parish Dr. Jeremy Knight, explained that the chemical components of the 'Fart Bomb' are sulphur and acid. He says when the chemical is released it causes nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and stomach ache, especially among children.
More than 50 students were affected by the fumes (odour) from the 'Fart Bomb', and approximately thirty of them had to be treated at the Buff Bay Health Clinic.
Meantime, Dr. Knight issued a health warning to students not to purchase such dangerous items, which are hazardous to their health. He argued that such an item should not be sold on the local market as children who purchase those items are at high risk.
The warnings printed on the package of the item, it read, 'Choking hazard, dangerous if swallowed, and not to be used by persons below the age of 7 years'.
