Re-ignite productivity

St. Thomas is preparing to send a signal to the rest of the island about its ability to productivity and timing could not be better.

According to the Honourable James Robertson, Minister without portfolio in the office of the Prime Minister as he address the official opening of Double Deuce Jamaica Limited, a agri-processing operation in Yallahs, St. Thomas on Friday, November 16.

Double Deuce Jamaica Limited, produces fruit juice and canned ackees with an export priority but will cater to particular local needs with the appropriate arrangements.

Situated at the Yallahs Industrial Park, the new outfit was likened to 'the phoenix rising from the ashes', where for years the facility was an area of abandonment and waste.

The operators were able to reactive productivity after much pursuit and determination.

Minister Robertson in his address spoke to the positive trend that Double Deuce has set and challenge Jamaica Trade and Invest (formerly Jampro), to make it work.

Minister Robertson who is also the Member of Parliament of western St. Thomas where the factory is situation, says it is his hope that ten other facilities in the parish which are not yet in productive use will see similar activities soon and he is prepared to lead that charge.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Omer Thomas, in his capacity has Senior Consultant in the Ministry of Agriculture, said the Ministry is committed to supporting projects like Double Deuce and commend the effort by the partners in realising the venture, noting that the prospect for growth in the sector is bright.
